Michael Seres, the Founder/ CEO of 11 Health and Technologies Limited, was diagnosed with the incurable bowel condition, Crohn's Disease at the age of 12. After over 20 operations and an intestinal failure, Michael became the 11th person to undergo a small bowel transplant at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, UK, which included becoming a stoma patient. Additionally, Michael is also a 2-time Cancer patient. In 2013, Michael founded the health tech start up 11 health and has developed sensor technology for ostomy patients.
Michael, started blogging about his journey through Bowel Transplant and his blog now has over 100,000 followers. He uses social media to develop global online peer to peer communities: covering over 20,000 patients. He is now the patient lead for the main UK health twitter chat #NHSSM, a member of the NHS England Digital Services user council, a published author and a professional speaker. He is the inaugural e-patient in residence and an executive board member at Stanford Medicine X. Michael helped implement the first skype clinics in Oxford Hospital and is an ambassador to the Doctors 2.0 conference.
Adam qualified as a pharmacist before going on to co-found Intra Tech Healthcare which became the single largest supplier of specialist compounded aseptic services in the UK. From that success, he supported a management buyout of Genzyme Healthcare creating Careology Ltd.
Most recently he co-founded ITH Pharma a pharmaceutical company committed to the research and development of aseptic preparations that provided unrivalled service in the industry.
Charles Spicer is an experienced director of, adviser to and investor in public and private companies primarily in the medtech sector. He is also chairman of PuriCore plc and Creo Medical and director of IXICO plc. He is chair of the UK Department of Health's Invention for Innovation (i4i) Funding Panel. Until recently he was a director of Aircraft Medical (acquired by Medtronic Inc. in December 2015) and Stanmore Implants (acquired by Stryker Inc., April 2016). Previously, Charles was chief executive of MDY Healthcare plc, a strategic healthcare investor and, prior to that, head of healthcare corporate finance at both Numis Securities and Nomura International.
Tara, our cheerful office manager and Executive PA to the CEO has several years of experience in office management, PA and operational management. Being a law graduate, has taught Tara the important disciplines and structures within a Company as well as utilising her Contract and Employment Law knowledge accordingly. Tara also brings her talent for delivering a high level of support to the other departments of the Company ensuring an efficient and united work force.
Prior to joining the company, Harrison was the operational manager for a retail candy shop where he developed a very customer-centric approach and attitude. Harrison studied business at college for three years, with a focus on marketing in his final year. After completing a two-week internship at 11 Health, and performing exceptionally well, Harrison was invited to become a full-time member.
Currently, Harrison is being tasked with nurturing relationships through multiple social media channels. He is very patient focused engaging on a daily basis with patients who have had an ostomy as a result of IBD, cancer or other medical challenges. Harrison is playing a leading role in the development of our work with the National Health Service. This includes our clinical trials and wider NHS engagement.
Originally from Mauritius, Priya is our Regulatory administrator who mainly looks after our dossier preparation and compilation for new submissions. She is a dedicated and disciplined professional with over a decade of quality sales, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and administrative experience. Priya is also a Business, Digital Media and Computer Science graduate and well versed communicator in English, French and Hindi.
Dee has been working as a CFO and Finance Director and has over 17 years' experience as a board level executive, both at corporate and interim level. She has a pool of experience within SME companies, including start up, private equity, owner managed and plc in UK, US and international companies with her main focus being within IT services, Business Consultancy, Media Recruitment and Telecoms sectors.
Dee's expertise includes selection and implementation of finance systems, improved procedures and controls and incorporating acquired companies into an existing business and staff management. She is able to provide both hands on and strategic level consultancy and advice throughout company finance. In October 2007, Dee established her own business to provide interim and portfolio services.
A consultant physician and gastroenterologist with a background in quality improvement and innovation, Rob is the lead medical advisor to 11Health. He is a practicing clinician and is the clinical lead for intestinal failure and GI physiology at Homerton Hospital in London where he is also the trust clinical lead for electronic healthcare and innovation.
A graduate of Leeds University, Rob undertook his postgraduate training in London and Cambridge and was one of the first trainees to undertake the Advanced Training Module in Intestinal Failure and Intestinal Transplant at St Mark’s and Addenbrooke’s Hospitals. As an alumnus of the National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow Scheme, Rob also brings experience of value-based healthcare commissioning and facilitating change in front-line medicine.
After successfully completing his BTEC in Journalism, Nathan joined the company as our youngest team member. As well as being Michael's son, Nathan has integrated really well and has shown his potential in his work. Being the Digital Content Producer, Nathan creates, edits and uploads various company videos which ranges from different company vlogs to videos for our website, as well as graphics for company conferences and professional posters for our offices around the globe.
Nathan co-manages our social media platforms where he creates new and exciting posts for 11 Health's Instagram (11_Health) including Michael Seres' personal Instagram (michael.seres). Nathan also looks after our audience engagement on Facebook and Twitter where we have a constantly growing community.
Vellmer Olaso, is a senior technical professional with a B.S. in Engineering and an MBA. Vellmer has over seven years experience in the medical device field, dedicated to process development, manufacturing, engineering and operations. Throughout his career, Vellmer has had a passion for developing and launching products into the market. His extensive experience includes design control, qualifications, verifications and validations.
In his spare time Vellmer can be found spending quality time with his family and enjoying the outdoors hitting the trails with his bike and hiking.
Larry has over 30 years in software development/architecture. Larry recently was the Mobile and IoT Architect within the Oracle Health Sciences Global Business Unit. He also led the mHealth group at UCSF with R&D; in the area of adaptive personalized therapy protocols on mobile devices.
Larry leads a research group at the Landon Pediatric Foundation in the application of eHealth and mHealth for patients with Cystic Fibrosis. Larry founded the venture-funded company Agent Net that provided research and development into a national software fabric to support the management, control, and cooperation of autonomous artifacts for the medical arena in which he was awarded a patent on the technology. Larry holds a BS in Computer Science.
Simon comes to 11 Health with extensive experience in all fascets of web development and intergration, having spent the last 20 years designing and developing solutions across a variety of platforms, business types and industries. Simon holds a degree in Information Technology.
Keagan was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of fifteen. Within the first year of her diagnosis, Keagan underwent a total of seven abdominal surgeries, all which resulted in an ostomy. Reflecting on her personal struggles as an ostomate, Keagan was inspired to help others by raising public awareness through education, personal testimony, and volunteer opportunities. Keagan has traveled throughout the United States educating nurses and clinicians on the importance of pre/post-surgical education and brings patient perspective to the forefront. Being part of the 11 Health team, allows Keagan to fulfill her passion in helping better the lives of ostomy patients.
Prior to becoming an 11 Health member, Karen was a sports psychologist at ITESO University in Mexico and was also working at INSTINTO as a Sports Psychology Consultant. Overall Karen has more than 10 years experience working with athletes from beginners to Olympics level, 4 years as Vice President of the Mexican Society of Sports Psychology and Physical Activity. She actively organized national conferences and academic projects and spent 4 years leading the educational sports area at the University by developing educative models for trainers and athletes. Karen has 11 years of practice as a professor and is the proud creator of the 4th editions of Academic Journeys of Physical Activity World Day and the 3rd. editions of Summer Sports Clinics.
n 2013-2014, Karen became an e-scholar at Stanford Medicine X and started her blog with publications to help people in her country with the same condition as herself. Karen also has a degree in Psychology and Master’s in Education and Knowledge Management by Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (Jesuit University in Guadalajara). Karen, will now will be leading the Psychology aspect of the company to develop adherence models for patients and communities, by using the open innovation model to create new and effective solutions for final users.
Gilbert's technical skills come from 4 years of working in telecommunications, and 11 years of experience in customer service. He graduated from Santa Ana High School and is attending Santa Ana Community College, where he plans to major in business and minor in music. Gilbert joined the 11 Health family in 2016 as the Technical Support Manager and strives to deliver the best technical support for everyone.
Bob has over 30 years' experience in medical device sales and marketing. He was formerly the President & CEO of Gyrus ACMI ENT Division and was the top Regional Sales Manager for US Surgical Corporation in the Northwest.
Bob has extensive experience establishing national and international sales forces.
John Aforismo is the Founder/ CEO of Drug Knowledge LLC, a Patient Drug Information company founded in December 2014. The company specialises in Patient Drug Education Information for medical and pharmacy software. John was also the Founder and former owner and CEO of RJ Health Systems, LLC, a drug information company responsible for developing the first drug reimbursement program taking into account all rules set down by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and the United States Congress.
John earned a Bachelor in science in Pharmacy from the University Of Connecticut School Of Pharmacy. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and actively participates in various symposia regarding the health care industry, and is licensed in the State of Connecticut.
John's current role with 11 Health is mainly to Support and Respond to our customers' inquiries regarding reimbursement through the federal payers such as Medicare and Medicaid and all commercial insurance entities. He acts directly on behalf of the customer when required.
